Hardee's Super Star

The Super Star is a Famous Star with twice the meat. It has two quarter-pound Angus patties and two slices of American cheese.

The toppings stay the same: lettuce, tomato, sliced onion, pickles, mayo and Special Sauce on a brioche-style bun.

That's half a pound of beef before cooking, which makes it one of the larger burgers on the menu.

The Super Star costs $6.49. That's $1.00 more than the Famous Star for a second patty and a second cheese slice.

It's the same price as the Bacon Cheeseburger and the Double Big Cheeseburger. Of those three, it gives the most protein.

The combo with fries and a drink is $9.89. That's a $3.40 add-on, the largest of any burger combo on the menu.

If you want the combo, the Famous Star Combo at $8.29 saves $1.60. You lose one patty.

Per Hardee's nutrition guide, the Super Star has 850 calories, 60g of fat and 49g of protein.

Saturated fat is 22g, which is above the FDA Daily Value of 20g. Sodium is 1,590mg.

The Monster Burger has more protein, at 63g. It also adds 160 calories and 550mg of sodium compared with the Super Star.

Skip the mayo and keep the Special Sauce. You'll cut some fat without losing much flavor.

The burger is tall. Ask for it cut in half if you're eating in the car.
